I have been told by some people that the Athearn HO scale Bombardier bi-level commuter passenger cars well work on 18 radius curves and some say they well not . Also how tall are the cars ,so if anyone can give me any info it would help thanks .
they work on 18 inch radius curves, but they overhang a lot and do not look prototypical on the curves.
I have Metrolink Set. Minimum Radius on the main is 22". Their likely fine in pull mode but you’ll have issues in push mode. Additionally, the Railing on the F59 doesn’t play well with the first car and causes it to derail occasionally.
Again, observations based on 22" radius curves.
Sitting on a flat surface the cars are 2.125" tall. Subtract the height of the wheel flange for rail head to top.
I run my Sounder Bombardier cars on 30+" radius and they work fine but still overhang a bit. I cannot imagine what they would look like on 18" radius track. And I’m not sure they would work unless one used long shank couplers.
Good luck!
I don’t real care if it looks real or not ,but thanks for all the info
The tightest curve I ran mine on as 22" using KD’s & they ran great! Not sure how they’d work on an 18" curve. Good Luck
