Yikes. Yet another reason I DO NOT use DCC.
It sounds like we both took advantage of a good price opportunity, I have yet to test mine so I sure hope you got the one in a million. This is my first loco after returning to the hobby, just waiting for my DCC system to arrive Like you living in Australia makes support a challenge… thanks for the comments
Ryan, DC or DCC is not the issue with locos it was bad manufacturing quality control that was causing the problems. Once sorted these are beautiful locos that have not missed a beat since. Quiet easily this same short could have affected a pure DC model as well. Once you “trust” DCC you will wonder why you didn’t try it before. At it’s absolute simplest two wires are all that are needed to connect controller to layout. Yes to all those that ware saying but what about droppers, bus wires etc, but broken down to bare minimum that’s it.
