I’m quite sure this has been discussed on this site before or maybe not. Well I’m looking to replace the wheels on my Athearn P40 locomotive (old blue box version) and I would like to know who makes a good set of wheels for locomotives?
I have been replacing the stock wheels on my all of my Athearn units with nickel silver ones from North West Short Line. I haven’t had a single problem with them yet. They are easy to change, just make sure you get them in gauge when finished.
Athearn now use nickel-silver wheels in thier RTR locos - so they are a source.
NWSL mentioned already and ReBoxx is another both have your choice of 40" and 42" diameter, with .064", .088" or .110" treads. Stock Athearn is 42" with .110" treads.
