I HAVE SOME OLDER ATHEATRN ENGINES WITH THE MOTOR JET 400 AND MOTOR JET 600. THE PART LISTING FOR THE MOTOR BRUSHES ARE 140-90036 WHICH I AM UNABLE TO FIND. I ALSO HAVE A FEW ATHEARN ENGINES WITH MOTORS PART #84040 WHICH USE MOTOR BRUSHES #90037. I AM WONDERING IF ANYONE KNOWS IF I CAN USE THE 90037 BRUSHES IN THE MOTOR JET 400 OR 600. ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT ATHEARN BUT NO ANSWER. THANKS FOR ANY HELP.

Athearn’s motor brushes are universal to all their motors, except for the earliest designs of all. You should be able to find them pretty easy if you look around, and they should work in all your motors.

Correct me if I’m wrong. The brushes in question are make of carbon (pencil lead)?

YES THEY ARE CARBON. I AM ABLE TO GET THE NEWER 90037 BRUSHES BUT JUST NEED TO KNOW IF THEY WILL REPLACE THE 90036 WITHOUT DAMAGING THE JET 400 OR 600 MOTORS.
