athearn p42 via rail locomotives paint

I am interested to know if the colour on the new athearn p42 via loco is the correct colour thanks

From what I understand, it isn’t.
It seems to be too light. I learned this from a hobby shop in Mississauga in April who was doing custom paint jobs for them.

I think the first locos were the wrong colour. The next ones are darker I hopethey are correct because I purchased one.

To Gordon I might have purchasd it from the same hobby store in mississauga. i

Yes your right, the first set of P42’s were too light. Athearn got alot of feedback over this and redid the paint, and I can tell you it is bang on. Nice looking loco. Got mine in the mail a few days ago (HO scale Road #910 ). Was surprised because I thought they would delayed longer than this .

I just saw one of them a few minutes ago and it was not the right color : a bit too dark but almost blue as the right tint would be a deep cyan, half blue / half green. I should receive mine tomorrow from another hobby shop; hope it won’t be from the same batch…

They must have had a tough time with the colour, it depends what picture you look at . Some look blue and some look green. The 2003 Trackside guide has a picture of it on the cover and it looks blue. I’ve been real close to the engine and it depends at what angle you look at.

I can see the real thing about every day and the color I saw on the model is definitely not ok. But the detail is impressive. There is a good spot where I can see those P42s from above and Athearn did a great job on the roof !
