the genesis mechanical reefers are in with sound for about 79 dollars. Are they worth it and does anyone have one? How good are they? rambo1…
I have one of each (One sound and one no sound). MB Klein has them for $64 sound and $36 no sound. I think they are a bit expensive but they are the only game in town. I wanted one of each and will not purchase any more due to the price. I will rather buy BLMA 64’ Trinity reefer from now on. The sound is very loud but is easily adjusted. How real the sound is, I don.t know I have never seen or heard a real one. The sound seems OK to my ears. There is no other adjustment on the sound unit. it start and stop periodically, I wish the periods On and Off could be altered. Right now it seem equally On and Off. I would like more time in the Off period.
The details on these cars are absolutely gorgeous on a par with any offering from Tangent, Exactrail and BLMA,
does the sound work from track power?rambo1…
Yes it does it appear to be an 8 wheels pickup. I am DCC but it is advertised as both DC and DCC.
I picked up my only 2 sound units last week (3 of 4 non-sound are b/o). I ordered 1 UP modern style and 1 FGE original style. They both work on track power with different distinct sounds, Reefer and Genset. Not being a sound guy that’s a bonus (worth the extra $20). The details, lettering and overall look of the cars is outstanding, this is one of the best new models in recent history.
I have four non sound ones and they are great they have the same wheels that the sound ones have and are wired also.
