Are the new RTR sets any better than the separate F7 A "super " and B units that have been sold for years. I’m thinking of the tooling and mechanism. Are the grilles any better? The old grilles were probably the worst thing about those units.
In a word no.
You do get knuckle couplers installed…
For less money (now) go with a P1K F3, much better detail…
I assume that you are NOT talking about the Genesis line. . . these are really good well detailed units.
I bought a set of these RTR engines in PRR livery and was not overly impressed. Detail level was not any better than blue box. They added quite a bit of weight to the power unit and it does run smoother than before. So, pulling power and smooth operation, improved, detail level, no diff. in my opinion. Only paid 54 for the set, so what you expect.
