I just finished adding details to this loco, Lift rings, cut levers and MU hoses. Plus some mild weathering.
thats a good looking engine you put a lot of work in to it. the horns look strange. they stacked up like that on the real thing?
Yup, the Southern used a 5 chime all forward on both ends of a lot of their geeps.
Good job , The Southern SD40-2 is probably the best looking locomotive ever created . I have one , but mine was customized by a friend and given to me for my birthday several years ago .
Until recently to do a Southern EMD hood unit one had to buy a Cannon & Co. high short hood kit and convert. I did 3 SD45’s two were P2K and the third is a KATO. I did my own GP40-X before athearn released theirs. I’m in the process of converting a P2K GP38-2 to SOU. Bout the time I get finished Walthers will probably decide to do a run of High hood GP38-2’s
