ok, so as you may or may not know. I just bought an Athearn CSX SD60I, NO SOUND, and i have in my hand a digitrax DH163 decoder, now i know how to hook up F1n,F2N,F1P,F2P etc, and i know how to change CV’s ive changed CV’s 2, 5 and 6 before trying to speed match a GP15(walthers, and a GP35(athearn) good luck, lol. But anyway, I understand that the ditch lights will alternate when and i guote " pressed" does that mean pressed down, as in they will alternate for however long you HOLD down the button? or what, i want it to do this. i hit F2(horn on digitrax zephyr) and i hit it once, voila the ditch lights are alternating, and i hit it again, and they will shut off, how does i do that? i kind of want to use F2, as an on/off switch for alternating ditch lights, but I AM ADDING SOUND IN LATER, the sound bug.
See my reply in the other thread to the same question. If you are goign to add sound you do NOT want to make F2 an on/off function, otherwise it will be nearly impossible to get a short horn blast because you’ll have to press F2 once to start the horn and again to stop it. From the factory F2 is a momentary function, it only works as long as you hold it. Hold it briefly = short horn blast, hold it longer = long horn blast. The oepration of the ditch lights given in the example is common north american practice where the ditch lights flash while the horn is being sounded plus a few seconds after. Most often seen at grade crossings - as soon as the grade crossing signal is started, the ditch lights start flashing. All the while the negineer is sounding the horn, the ditch lights continue to flash. After passing the crossing and the horn is stopped, the ditch lights flash for a few seconds and then stop.
