Awesome…Awesome…Awesome, The video was cool!
How many cars are you pulling with your new locomotives, it looked like about 50?
Thanks for letting us take a peek at the new additions!
Got mine too. They’re awesome! Need a touch of white on the nose and cab grabs and they’re ready to go!!
For those who question the 5544’s unusual lettering (larger logos, only CONRAIL on rear, and ahem, “SD60M” under number), that’s how it really was!! 5544 was a test bed for the then-new isolated cab. It wasn’t part of the regular SD60I order and was painted exactly like the GMD-built SD60Ms.

Which sound decoders do these come with ? I looked on Athearn’s website and can’t find the info. I am interested in the SD60Ms coming out later this year. I just finished converting 4 older P2K SD60 and SD60Ms to DCC w/sound using Digitrax Soundbug decoders. I am trying to decide if I need some additional units. I saw a Conrail SD60i at the LHS yesterday. The details and finish looked pretty good.,
These come with MRC sound decoder…

Very cool, man. Gotta love the video.
I almost got one but the decoder fried on the hobby shops test track so I won’t be buying this unless I can prove it ill last. My oldest Atlas unit with sound is almost 4 years old and its going as strong as ever, the newest athearn unit dies before I can buy it. Sorry for my rant but I dont like Athearns products at all.
Sorry for the counter rant, but the decoder is MRC’s fault, not athearn. Sharp looking locos [tup]
