Athearn's MP15AC????????

Can we expect to see Athearn’s offering of the MP15AC shortly? It was promised for early March but then of cause it had been promised on three previous occasions I believe. The body shell was on view at the Springfield Show last year so if it is delayed again then one must assume that the delay is due to either the chassis or a suitable decoder. Or then perhaps it is imminent. Does anyone have a more knowledgeable view on Athearn’s intentions. CPPedler

I talked to Athearn, and they said that the project is on hold for now. They did gurantee me that the project WILL be done in the future.

That project is NOT on “hold”…There is some tooling issues. The due date is early November, 2007…

think this is a major reason why I dont wait for a locomotive. I see something I like and then ot gets put on hold or the release date changes. Reminds me of a couple of item Walthers had like the 120’ Built up turntable was released 3 months after it was due. Then Kaslo shops SDL39 still waiting for it and its been over a year. We were suppse to have it by Christmas. This is due to shipment parts from China. If a manufactue gives a release date it should be released or give a reaon why it wasnt released.

What’s the big deal if a specific model is late in being released? Will you not be able to participate in the hobby? Will everything grind to a halt? Is it the end of your world? Use something else in it’s place until the one you want is available. They will all work on your track.

Patience!

YES to all your questions.

What would the real railroads do?

Use something else! Maybe even lease some horsepower! Which gives you an excellent excuse to run a loco from a different road on your layout!

Ok sense my railroad cant get an MP15AC and MILW wont lease one to me I want anyones MP15AC.

Guys,Heres a previewof the pre-production model…Sweet!

I just got the Atheran news letter in my email this morning. Here’s the paragraph on this model:

To give you a quick update, here are some photos of a pilot model. As you can see, we are making progress. This locomotive runs great, and we are excited about the way it is coming together. We don’t have a firm ETA yet, because there is still a lot of work to do. Remember, it’s a pilot model, and changes will be made before production.
