I went railfanning today and Friday on NS’ Atlanta to DC line and noticed that it was unusually busy for the daylight hours. I saw all the trains in Spartanburg and Gaffney, SC. Is this busyness just a coincidence or does it have something to do with the holiday weekend? Or just the traditional upsurge in railroad freight that takes place in the fall? I saw mostly mixed freights, only one intermodal.
