Atlas #66

Opinion please, have (4) plus (12) tortoise. Need 71 more. Also using 18 ground throws.
I like the #66 becuase it can do anything I want from frogs to signals. The other SLo-MO needs add ons to do the same thing, plus they are LARGE under the table. That is my take, waht is yours.
Cost is not a factor, easy install and operation is the most important.
Thank you

I tried some Hump Yard manual throws (A variation of choke wire approach) and Love them. They look cool and work. They hook up quickly and adjust easily. I don’t have stock in the company, but I will use more of them on Mt. Redikulus.

For powered turnouts, it’s Tortoise all the way. Easy to install, and just about the most reliable thing I’ve ever seen. And nothing extra needed for frogs and signalling.

Randy i have the WD for the Tortoise with the 1 thru 8 connectionsLooking at it I read
1-Motor (direction 1)
2. N.O. for 1
3 N.C. for 1
4 Feed for #2,3
5 feed for 6,7
6 N.O. for 8
7 N.C. for 8
8. Motor (direction 2)

Using this a frog would be (1 being main 8 being siding)
Frog power for 8 would wire 5,6 energize the 8, 5 closes and powers the frog. Correct or all wet.

5 would go to the frog, 6 and 7 would go to the appropriate rails or bus, or wherever you are pulling the power from.

Somewhere in at least one of Rob Paisley’s circuit diagrams there is picture of exactly what contacts are connected based on a given polarity across 1 and 8. Or just meter it out - install the Torotise, and before you hook up 6 and 7 verify which is which based ont he position of the turnout.

Thank you Randy. Should be able to do some testing next weekend. Surgery Thursday so, lots of reading time it looks.
