Atlas Alco RS-1 Decoder install

Before I break something trying to remove the cab of the Atlas Alco RS-1 locomotive, I want to ask those who have experience. It appears from the parts list that came in the box from Atlas, that I need to remove the grab rails from the cab, remove the cab, and then the locomotive top half in order to install a decoder. It also appears that the top half of the locomotive has four tabs, one on each lower corner that must be disengaged before the top can be removed. I assume that you must gently squeeze the lower part of the top on each side and pull up in order to remove the top?

Remove the four ends of grab rails from the cab. They are very fexible. Then squeeze the long and short hoods at their ends and lift the top up. The cab comes together with the hood base assembly.

The grab rails will stay with the bottom part.

Sorry, I’m talking about the H0 engine.

What scale?

Atlas has them in both H.O. and N scale.
