That leaves QSI with no OEM affiliation that I can recall. Walthers used to be, but they switched to Soundtraxx a while back. BLI went their own way with the Paragon2 system, although the BLI still kind of reminds me of a “QSI lite” system. I have no Lok Sound experience, but the buzz seems to be very positive. Without an OEM affiliation I would think this would be a serious blow to the QSI bottom line. I guess time will tell. I’ve never been a big fan of QSI. Soundtraxx has been my sound provider of choice.
Now if they just make a loco I want/need… I already have the Trainmasters with QSI.
I guess I’m lucky, I’ve never had any issues with QSI and I liek the way the Trainmaster sounds. But I REALLY like Loksound, to the point where it is now my stnadard sound decoder. I have the Lokprogrammer and all already so I cna edit and load sounds. The motor control from Loksound is EXCELLENT. This is great news.

So, let’s see … ESU has wrapped up Atlas, Rapido, Truline Trains, Riverpoint Station and Kato. Could Athearn be the next convert ?

Hard to say. Two or three years ago Bowser went from LokSound to SoundTraxx.
I use both decoders but prefer SoundTraxx.
DCC is continually evolving.

Recently I tried 2 Loksound decoders, Awesome sound from a package smaller and and tougher than a Micro Tsunami [:D]

WHere’d you see that? I just looked on the Bowser page and all the listed new products have Soundtraxx sound. Including the C630, which if I modeled a more modern era I would definitely grab Reading 5308 - we have that one restored and operating at the museum. I’ve seen Youtube postings of Tsunami Alcos and I do say my Loksound sound better, more ‘alco like’.
Looking at the Atlas release, too bad they aren;t doign Reading RS-3’s. Guess I will have to sell off all the undec older ones I have and buy new sound undec, saves me the trouble of installing a Loksound and speakers.
