Atlas Code 100 Turnouts with Powered Frog

Hello,

Since I plan to get my layout up and running again, I’m planning to do an expansion of my current DC only layout. I’m trying to find some Atlas code 100 nickle-silver #4 turnouts with powered frogs. I’ve looked all over the inter-web for them and cannot find anything with powered frogs. I’ve used them in the past but they were brass. Does Atlas still make code 100 turnouts with powered frogs in the nickle-silver variety?

The short answer is NO. Those brass all metal turnouts have been gone as long as fiber tie flex track. Customline turnouts have an isolated metal frog. It can be powered…

Thank you for posting. Now I’ve got to re-plan my expansion. I’ve still got a few of the brass turnouts with mods done to them. I’ve powered the frog with two seperate wires, one from the positive stock rail and one from the turnout rail. They seem to work for me.

All the Atlas HO Code 100 Mark IV turnouts are nickle-silver, and AFAIK they all have provisions to power the insulated metal frogs.

Go to the Atlas site and under Repair Parts, order some #9200002 Buss bars and some #9200001 screws. These are the parts that come with the Atlas Snap Relay to power the frogs, so they’re already made to work together.

The buss bar will slide into the slot on the bottom of the appropriate tie on the Atlas turnout, and it’s already tapped so you can secure it from the top with one of those screws (They’re blackened to match the frog).

Then you can either solder the feeder to the other end of the buss bar, or you can simply fasten it with another one of the screws. Just be sure you have something (Tortoise contacts, SPDT switch, etc) in place to change the polarity of the frog as needed.

Thank you for the information. I will go to the Atlas site and check it out. Again, thank you.
