Atlas code 55 n scale turnouts

Has anybody have any ideas how to correct the clearance on the frogs of an Atlas n scale code 55 turnout? according to my wheel guage all of the wheelsets are in guage but when you try to pu***he locos through the turnouts the bind up at the frogs, any help or suggestions would be helpful.

There is a little saw blade attachment that you can get for a Dremel tool that works well for this. It’s just about the right width even. I’ll have to look up the part number when I get home and then I’ll post it. Just go slowly as it heats up the metal as it cuts and you don’t want to melt the ties. Just cut for like 2 seconds and then cool for 10 seconds. A heat sink helps too.

Others might have better suggestions but this works for me. [8D]

Are they binding or rising up on the frog? Code 55 is low profile, the flanges on my older rolling stock “ride the rails” and the frogs are higher than the rails. I have an old 0-6-0T that is going to become a static piece of scenery due to it’s deep flanges.

I think it is a combination of both riding up and binding the one thing I dont get is all of my rolling stock is newer Atlas products if the locomotives flanges are to large how can I correct this?

Thats the problem I had and I solved it (mostly, a couple of engines got retired) as I described earlier.

You can widen the flangeways and deepen them at the same time.

Two birds with one stone! [8D]

Thanks for the help I will try that.

Any idea what the part number and where I can get that little saw blade attachment for the dremel at ?

I am so sorry. I went home and forgot all about it!

It’s part # 199

Sorry about the delay!

Oh, and I got mine at Wal Mart.

Paid a couple of dollars for it.

Thanks
