I just got finished laying the track on my new layout. Now I guess the best move would be to equip and wire my turnouts. I’m using code 55, this is my first big layout, and I don’t want to use those goofy atlas electric snap switches. I was wondering what would be the best under table switch machine that is reasonably affordable. And I have to consider that this throw bar off of the switch machine needs to be long enough to go through 1/2 in plywood, and 2" foam roadbed. Does anyone have any ideas on how to help me, and what would be a good throw extension?
I was wondering the same thing. Hard to believe that nobody has an opinion or suggestion.
The issue has been covered a couple of times in the recent past, so that might be a reason you did not get an answer right away.
The best bet would be to install a Tortoise slow motion turnout motor. There are ways to install them when your sub-roadbed is made out of 2" foam on plywood.
