Atlas Dash 8 W/ sound?

Im tired of waiting for the BLI AC6000, So, what are your opinions on the atlas dash 8 with sound. How is the sound quality? Does it run well? How is the detail?

Thanks

The detail and running, based on pictures and Model Railroader is EXTREMELY good. There’s even a little chain on the rear truck. I’m not sure about the sound because I’ve never heard one before.

Check out the video at model railroader.com. It has sound.

Why does Model Railroader assume I want to hear the horn that much? Once or twice is good… I really wanted to hear what the sound did when he went from a stop into Run 8…

Two months ago I visited the Suncoat Model Railroader’s Club.

A member put a new Atlas Dash 8 through her paces. All I could say was WOW! The sound (QSI, I think) was sharp and crystal clear! Attracted attention. The body detail, top notch (typical Atlas). IMHO, this locomotive was a winner.

The owner, who already had a BLI diesel running on the club layout, told us that he felt that the Atlas unit sounded even better that the BLI locomotive that was running.

JPM335, the BLI AC6000CW’s are due Late July, Early August…I would just wait.

Cant hurt having 2 sound locos huh?[:D] After seeing that video I think I might have to get me one of them. CSX of course[;)]

They are as good as it gets in the RTR sound market today.

I recently got an Atlas Santa Fe B40-8W with sound, and it runs and sounds really good. The new Atlas locos really are great runners and the detail is outstanding.

My only complaint is the blue headlights. What were they thinking? I plan to swap them out as soon as possible.

Apparently Atlas has now found a supply of golden-white LEDs and will be using those in the future.

The 8-40CWs with sound are AWESOME, but good luck finding one. I’ve been searching for 2 months and everywhere is either sold out or is way to expensive.

You are right about them being sold out and they sold out fast. I wrote Atlas about the lack of them at LHS, and was told they would have the second batch of this model very soon, sometime this winter. I also found out they are improving some of the small detail to make the new run even better.
