Atlas engines making noise

hey everyone,

i am having problems with two atlas n scale engines that i recently bought. One is a gp38 and the other is a Dash8-40BW. the gp38, after testing, i put a decoder in it. the Dash already came decoder equipped from atlas. when i go to run them, they make a load, screeching noise and after trying to lube them alittle, it still doesn’t help.

does anyone have an idea on how to fix this.

Where are you putting the lube? Just on the gears? You may need to put some grease on the worms, and lube the motor bearings as well. This happened to me on an Atlas GP-7.

If you’ve lubed everywhere and it’s still screeching, I’d say it’s probably part of the mechanism rubbing against the shell or the frame - I’d check for this.
