anybody have one, seen one run?.. This is my first Atlas DCC loco. What can I expect? Hands? Anyone? Thanks
I don’t have that particular engine, but I do have quite a few Atlas diesels. They’re generally considered “the cream of the crop” as far as running characteristics, so I would expect no problems there. It should be smooth running and quiet. If it’s a non-sound one, I’m not sure what company’s decoder they use (I think the sound ones are QSI?), but I don’t recall hearing any complaints about problems with them.
I just got an undecorated dc engine, I don’t have an N scale layout, so I tested it on a Peco code 80 flextrack. The green/red class. lights are very cool. Engine ran silky smooth with a Mrc 9500 'pack. It should be very responsive once You get all the cv’s set the way You want them. Good luck…

She went into the paint booth this afternoon… this was last night looking over the parts… I’ll try to post updates as I get her ready for the layout.

Painted my FM 16/44 today… Gulf Breeze & Holley colors… orange & blue. War Eagle.
Still have to lock it all down and put on the hand rails… but time to call it a night.
One recommendation: Make sure that you spend some time affixing the end footboards to the body well-- If you just go along with Atlas’ stock method of pressing in the footboards, you’ll eventually lose most of them.
I’ve reduced the number of lost footboards on mine by gluing them in using cyanopoxy.
Really good point fmilhaupt … I noticed that last night. I agree, I’ll have to make sure those are secure.
I’ve also decided to take the “Blue” color a little darker Blue. She just looks to “bright” so I’m going back to the paint booth today. I’ll update this when she’s dry and back together.
