Atlas Gensets

Hello All

I keep seeing the Atlas advertisement on the forums with the Genset picture.

I checked their latest schedule and it shows shipping last month.

Does anyone have the latest?

I emailed them about a week ago and was told not to expect them until August, at the earliest. A year is a long time to wait- I’m so glad they arrived in January like they were supposed to…

I believe the boat that had the Gensets got hit by a hurricane.

Funny it seams like the real thing was designed and built in less time than the model.

After seeing the samples at the WGH on tour show I went and purchased one at my LHS I hope that it’s as good looking as the samples Atlas had on display.

I know how you feel. I would like to buy one too. I am still waiting on Intermountain to release the GEVOs, but they keep pushing back the release date.

Better late then never.

Pete

True.

By the way since it’s not going to be released in the Gold variety, do any of the decoder manufacturers have the sounds for one?

There’s an amtrak one that passes my workplace now and then and it’s pretty quiet.

A quiet sound decoder? Overland is doing Brass ones but I don’t think there are sound decoders in them.

Pete

I see that Atlas has moved the estimated shipping date up to August on there website, hopefully the switchers will be availible in September.

Amtrak as well huh? Tyhey must be testing the waters or something, but a number of roads have Gensets that would sell well, and they didn’t produce them. And ou used to be cable to count on Atlas for the obscure Demo. I want to get one, but I’d rather the demonstrater for felxibility of use.

I googled them and found mention of Amtrak Gensets in California and Chicago but nothing in the Northeast Corridor. There’s definitely one in Delaware though, You cant mistake them. It’s been running with a work train south of Wilmington.

According to the Atlas website the container with the Gensets is ready to sail, hopefully they’ll be at the dealers next month.

CP has one that does switching at GM in Oshawa once in awhile. I wish Atlas would build one of those, I’m sure it would sell VERY VERY well.

If we havent already ordered them will we be able to get them at stores or has Atlas only built enough for the pre order. Sorry if this is a dumb question im only 12 so i dont know how atlas has done it.

“Pre-order” for Atlas comes from dealers, not consumers. So, if a shop happened to get 5 customer pre-orders, they might have added 10 for the shop. Or none. It’s the owner’s call. Atlas also probably runs a few extra, too; but that quantity is only known by Atlas. Anyway, if you want one now, you might ask at your local shop if they ordered any extra beyond their customer pre-orders; and, if they did, can you put your name on one of them. Other options are going on-line to places like MB Klein, Trainworld, etc. Better might be to phone them up.

If they’re totally gone, you can bet that Atlas will be running more. Later.

Ed

PS: Someone on a forum recently noted that the only dumb question is one that isn’t asked. So, ask away–doesn’t bother me.

Is this the first run of the Gensets or have they been offered before?

First run. Oh, and BTW, container shipped yesterday, ETA set for 9/16.

Thanks a bunch. I really want one of these for my modern ho scale UP/BNSF and Amtrak/Metrolink layout but i forgot to pre order one. I will probably try to order one from my LHS. By the way if anyone has a layout similar or models these railroads could you please post some pics or ideas. Any help would be awesome! Thanks! -Will

Are these going to be available in DCC?
