I have a problem with my Atlas locomotive. The sound comes and goes as the unit rounds the layout. Atlas suggested low voltage, track cleaning, and wheel cleaning which has not helped the situation. I run conventionally with voltage around 10 volts. Even with the EOB engaged which draws 14-15 volts the problem occurs. I do not have availability of TMCC to reprogram the unit as noted in their manual. Anyone have suggestions?
How big is your layout? You may need additional wires to the other side of your layout and maybe even a third power hook-up depending on how large your track is. You may be having a resistance drop and not know it because that is a problem common with all track.
Another thing to do is run another engine and see how it does on that track you have a problem with and see if it is the track or not.
How about the “manual volume control”, turn it to hi and to low several times with the final turn go to full then back off ever so slightly (just enuff that it isn’t against the stop). Sometimes they develop a bit of corrossion or just get dirty and it can cause erratic sounds.
I have the same problem. It only happens on tight curve. If I run on the outer loop which is a larger curve there is no problem. I look forward to further comments,
