Atlas GP60 cab light missing?

Bob’s review of GP60 is in May05. Excellent review.

Two questions:

  1. No mention of when GP60 introduced. I believe in early 80s so that would be too late a period for it on my time-era pike.

  2. Bob says “The Santa Fe units did not have headlights on the cab roof (see prototype photo pg 91)”

I looked at the prototype photo on page 91 and there is a yellow light up there, but not on the model.

Bob’s statement could, however, be accurate as some GP-60 models may not have had them, as I understand they are used to spot locomotitves better from yard towers.

Can someone shed some light on these topics?

No locos would have a cablight, Its not protoypical… Some might have a blinking beacon for crews to spot. The only Atlas loco with cablights is the SW with the guages lit.

Look below the rotating yellow light on top of the cab roof. There is a space between the number boards (above the cab windows) for a cab light to be installed. On the model, the cover is there with simulated bolts. That was the cab light I was talking about, not the rotating beacon. Sorry for any confusion.
