I have an Atlas H16-44 with the standard atlas 4 function decoder. This locomitive has classification lights that should come on and glow red or green depending on the direction the locomotive is going. When I run this engine in DC they work as they should, but in DCC the lights are set to function 2 or 3 according to the instructions.
My MRC Prodigy advance has function 2 as a momentary button, normally used for the horn on sound locomotives. I can press it and the lights come on and work but since this is a momentary button as soon as I release it they go off.
Function 1 dims the head light
Function 2 or 3 is for the classifiaction lights
How do I program the decoder to make the classification lights turn on with function 3 instead of function 2?
All assistance is greatly appreciated,
Jeff
It is possible to change which function number they come on with. Which ones would you like to control the red light, and which to control the green light?
For example, to move the green control to 3 and red to 4 (it should work, but hard to tell without the loco infront of me) set cvs 7=0, 8=99, 54=4, 55=8, 128=3
That should work.

To change them to F3
cvs 7=0, 8=99, 54=4, 55=4, 128=3
Cheers.

David,
Thank you for the help, I will try this tonight at home.
Where do you find this information? book or website?
Jeff
From a great tool that most people wouldnt consider. JMRI Decoder pro. You can run the program without a connection to the layout, choose the decoder you are programming, make the changes you want (in your case changing the function of the lights) and observe the CVs that the program spits out (it shows you what was changed).

Thanks again David, I will need to look into that.
