What’s the deal with the Atlas HO C30-7s? They are not listed on their website, so I assume they are out of production. Are they any good? How do they compare to BLI’s C30-7?
I don’t know anything about the BLI engines, but the Atlas are fantastic. All of the Atlas produced GE’s are super smooth runners.
Top Notch in quality.
Excellent pulling power, low speed control, and quiet!
Atlas C30-7’s have been out of production for some time, but they can still be found at train shows and on eBay. Atlas GE’s are great runners. IMHO the Atlas body shells have finer detailing than the BLI. However, some of the Atlas C30’s came with unpainted black handrails.
Here’s a bunch of 'em:

Leave the BLIs at the hobby shop and buy an Atlas. The power frame is the same for the C30-7, U30C, U33C, and U36C. Between my son and I we own about eight of the things. They are great pullers.
I agree the Atlas is far superior in quality to the BLI
I would take atlas over anything, any day!
