Atlas HO Locomotive Truck/Side Frame Removal

Hi Everyone,

I’m new to this forum so I hope I’m in the right place. If not, please excuse my ignorance. I have an HO Atlas RS1 locomotive that was released in 2003 and it has never been out of the box. The seller suggested that I lube the gears before breaking it in. I was hoping that I can remove just the truck side frames and the bottom piece of the truck to get to the gears. If so, do you gently pry the side frames off or is there a clip that needs to be lifted? Never removed Atlas trucks before although I’ve done Athearn and P2K but, somehow the Atlas looks a little different. Rather be safe than sorry so am hoping another modeler with experience could help.

If it is like this diagram, there are six little latches that need to be disengaged. To remove the side frames, it appears that one or two latches need to be disengeged.
