Very good powerful engine. Sound is very impressive on DC or DCC.
I had purchased a Silver unit without the QSI sound Decoder. I then disassembled the engine and removed one of the radiator grills. I then cut away the bulkhead part of the grill and ground away some of the top speaker frame and weight. I then removed two of the 4 radiator fans and drilled 8 symmetrical holes each to allow sound and reattached the fans. I then installed a QSI sound decoder and mounted the speakers facing outward instead of inward. All this was done to allow the sound to exit from the radiator grills on the top of the engine. The result was a much better sound from an already great sounding locomotive.
