Atlas MD15C questions

I refer to the Atlas ad inside the front cover of Dec MR that I only just received today.
Are these Atlas gold series considered good runners? Are these suitable for a 1950’s layout? And finally, where is the best on line place to order one?
BB
ps when are they due out?

IMHO, all of the Atlas locos are good runners. My worst one is wonderful.
The MD15 is notsuitable for a 50’s layout. I read, don’t remember where, that they were first built around 1970( I think). I had one on reserve thinking that I would eb able to use it, but I canceled it. I’m doing 40’s & 50’s also, and even if I’m wrong on the year of introduction, it still came out later…

Yup, somewhere areound 1970, I think after the -2s came out.
In my experience, atlas locos are the best on the market right now.

Atlas loco’s are as good as they come. I have some GP7s from the late 1980’s and they are still going strong, and God is truly the only one who knows how many actual miles, not scale miles these locos have on them. If you are modeling the 1950’s check around. Atlas GP7’s are still available along with Alcos S2’s and S4’s. I am confident when I say with an Atlas loco you can’t go wrong unless you get the wrong loco for the era you are modeling.

Thanks
Lane

Atlas locos have always been good runners for me. You can look here for your other questions. www.atlasrr.com

If I remember correctly, the MP15 superseded the SW1500. Southern Pacific’s last SW1500s were built in 1973. SP’s 12 MP15s were built in 1974. I would guess the MP15 was probably introduced in 1974.
