I bought the cheaper, flat turntable with the motor. When I installed the motor, it does not work. The motor is working ok but the worm gear does not turn the gears on the turntable. It appears that the worm gear fits too tight. I can’t see any way of adjusting it. Any suggestions?
Since answers seem to be rather scarce, you might want to contact Atlas directly by phone or through their website.
Good luck,

I did ask them today. We’ll see what they say. Thanks
I’ve got an HO scale one, but they are pretty much the same design, I think.
First, have you tried turning the turntable with the hand crank, with the motor unit removed? If the unit is just sticky from being new, this should free it up. If it won’t turn with the hand wheel, it’s probably broken.
Next, it sounds like the motor turns when it’s not mounted, but it doesn’t turn at all when assembled. Is that right?
Are you familiar with these turntables? They are somewhat unique, in that they use a “Geneva” drive. This system stops the turntable at each of the indexed positions, while the motor continues to run for a while, after which it picks up and moves to the next slot. If you’re just powering up for a few seconds, you may need to wait a bit longer for the drive to actually move the deck.
Finally, do you have enough power to run the motor with the turntable connected? I use an old DC train transformer for mine, cranked up about 3/4 of the way. If you’re testing it with a 9-volt battery, for example, the motor may turn by itself but not have enough power to run the turntable.
Thanks for the reply! Hand cranking worked well. I have it hooked up to my dc transformer with nothing else on it. Motor runs by itself but when I place it to run the gears, it moves a little bit and then stops. I’m thinking that it is too close to the gears but there does not seem to be an adjustment. I’m thinking of filing down the worm drive gears to see if that helps.
