Atlas new HO locomotive announcement!!!!!!!!!!!

Good news from Atlas!!!

they have FINALLY announced that they will be doing an HO scale B23-7!!! they will have test shots at Trainfest, but no other details have been finalized yet.

BRING ON THE SP B23-7’S AND B30-7’S!!!

I thought I was going to get excited wth the promise of a steam engine. Oh well.

Yes, I too thought this was going to be an announcement of an Atlas steam engine. I think Atlas made steamers at one time, way back when. Atlas announced a year or so ago that they were thinking about releasing a steam engine of some type, but I haven’t heard any more about it. Maybe they decided that Broadway Limited, Athearn, Lionel, and others were too much competition for steam engines.

I’m quite sure if Atlas did a little research and produced an Engine that others haven’t, they be a serious contender. From what I’ve seen of their Diesels and latest rolling stock they are definately up there in the ranks.

Fergie

Sure if they come out with a Cabless BN B30-7A!

I’m with you, Fergie! [:(] Didn’t hold out much hope…but was hoping…

Tom

Another diesel? Awwwwww…

I hope they make CSX B30/36-7’s!

Aw poop. Another diesel (and a rather ugly one, at that, IMO). I was really hoping for some steamer no one had done yet. Like a USRA 4-6-2 or 2-10-2.

Athearn offers a USRA 4-6-2, as does Bowser.
Bachmann has announced a USRA 2-10-2 and Bowser offers one.

I sent the nice people at Atlas the following e-mail:

Hi!

Just thought you would be interested in what we are saying about you in MR Forums. Don’t worry it’s good things.

Bottom line is “We want an Atlas Steam Engine!”

Fergus Francey

P.S. I got a set of your Hart Ballast cars and I couldn’t believe how good they are! Well Done!!

You don’t need anyone to test your equipment on their layout, do you?

Hopefully they will heed our cries

Fergie

Nice! I hope Conrail B23-7’s and B36-7’s are coming!

Good thinkin’, Fergie! Hopefully, they’ll have a brainstorming session on Monday morning because of this. [:D]

If ATLAS ever decided to manufacture a steamer with the same attention to detail that they build their diesels and RTR’s, I would think that they could definitely find a niche amongst LL, Athearn, Bachmann, and BLI.

[tap, tap, tap] “Hello?!?..ATLAS, are you there?!?
PICK UP THE PHOOOOOOOOOONE!!!”
Tom

The Seaboard System, bought a ton of B36-7’s, at 3750 loco hp!

Yay Diesel

YAHHHWWWWWWNNNNNNNNNN

another modern diesel…

now if they would have made an HH600/660 I would be excited…

HODude, Minuteman,

Please forgive me if I’m wrong, but It seems obvious by your responses that you are taking “Digs” at the steam guys on here. I’m a diesel guy myself however, taking digs at other modeler railroader’s preferences only brings up hostile feelings. So, be cool, [8D] and please encourage our fellow “steam” modelers. Remember, some of these same guys might be the ones to answer questions that you may have in the future!

This is just my opinion, but with BLI on the market and its popularity (in spite of a few problems with some of their locomotives) Atlas may be cautious about producing new steam models. We have to remember that producing model steamers are considerably more expensive than model diesel locomotives.

The best thing for steam fans to do is to continue to write to the manufacturers and urging them for the specific steam locomotives they want introduced. Another option is to hit BLI up.

Yes, BLI units are more expensive but many shops allow “Layaway Plans”. I’ve read where some modelers state that "they don’t need sound’. Well, the sound on any BLI can be turned off, but I seriously doubt these modelers would!

Cheers!

that’s great!..and all i need are more b units!..and that’s not in a sarcastic tone!..Chuck

Gotta love Atlas quality.

[#ditto] Bring on the dash 7’s !!! I want the GOLD series!
