The unit is pretty much one solid piece - meaning I doubt you could take it apart without breakage. I no longer use them on visible portions of my layout, but do make good use of them in staging and tunnel areas.
When I did have them on the layout, I found that some “dirty” black/brown paint and some well applied plaster and foliage disquised them to reasonably pass for large roadway crossings.
No, they are molded together.
I am curious though, why would you want to remove it and leave bare rails? you could cut ties out of a regualr piece easier if you, say, wanted to make a track pit with bare rails.
Other way around I think - I think the OP wants to ADD rerailers without having to tear up a section of existing track.

Yep. You’re right I misread {or misunderstood} that.
Would be better to buy new rerailers and install them then. They are molded into and underneath the tracks.
