Are the old Atlas Roco locomotives the SD24 SD35 GP38 high nose low nose GP40 and FP7’S worth anything.How could you get rid of them.Are there a market for stuff like these.Or should i keep them.
They are already too old for my era.

There are dealers selling them at collector prices. Gee I remember purchasing them at $12 and $13 mail order in the mid 1970’s. Now some dealers have them for $70.$100 each depending on the road name.

You could easily get the $25.00 list price most of these locos had when they were released. Some were a bit more when they were rerun a few years ago.

When you say “too old” are you referring to the mechanics of the locomotive (years you have had it), the extinct roadname (ie fallen flags) or the type of locomotive (ie RS-3, GP9, etc. vs DASH8 and DASH9, GP60, etc.) for the era you are modeling?
I would try selling them on Ebay. I usually pay anywhere from $15.99-$59.99 for good working locomotives. Other users may be motivated by bidding on different roadnames, but I always end up customizing or re-painting the ones I buy, so that is not necessarily a motivation for me.
Usually my high bid reflects the brandname and line of a particular locomotive. That is, if it is an Atlas, I would go up to the full amount-$59.99, whereas if it was a Lifelike, Bachmann, Model power-I would go as high as $25. Of course, this depends on how beatup the locomotive is, and if parts are damaged or missing.

The current high Atlas prices reflect DCC-decoder equipped locomotives and updated motors.
To old as type of locomotive.Oldest loco on my layout GP 38-2 and GP40-2 several of them.The Rocos are in good shape some in boxes some not a few SCL SD35’s might be a little wore but a little maintance could help been retaired a long time ago.I guess i do like the real RR’S do when something gets to old scrap it.I model todays RR’S.Rollingstock the same.A lot of Robinrails PS 50ft boxcars and others also.

My theme is modern as well. Though I have a mixture of old and new locomotives. If you have any of the following roads, I might be interested in your locomotives:
Burlington Northern (any scheme), Chicago Burlington and Quincy (red, white and gray), Santa Fe (blue and yellow warbonnet), Rock Island (Blue and white), Amtrak (phase 3 and up), and any maintenance of way (modernized).
As I said, I mix 2000’s modern with 70s, 80s, and 90s modern. I have mixtures of AC4400s, DASH-8s, DASH-9s, and GP60s along with GP-38-2s, GP40s, SD35s, GP7s, GP9s, etc.
Same goes for any rolling stock you are wanting to cutoff.
