Has anyone been able to install DCC and sound into the latest RS units from Atlas?
I am curious to learn from your experiences so I might be able to understand the best way to dcc and sound with these wonderful units.

HO or N?
I am speaking in HO terms.
I have one and DCC is pending in the near future. I will be using the TCS A4X decoder as it is a good fit to replace the Atlas light board. This newest version of the RS1 already has resistors wired to LED lamps. The DA-SR from NCE would also work.
Been contemplating sound. The soundtraxx DSD-AT100LC # 820042 is the right sound board/decoder combination and it will fit to replace the Atlas light board. I understand that the sound from the DSX line is better but I do not think a sound board on top of a seperate decoder would squeeze in.
However, I am at odds over what size speaker and where it would be placed. Not alot of room under the hood. There is one LED on each end of the hood followed by a three way splitting light pipe. Without modifying the lighting route, where to fit any speaker is my dilema.
You could try to fit a speaker into the cab, or maybe in the long hood under the radiator fan.

Im in HO sorry…
I have been thinking about a complete unit with sound already in it. It might have to go speaker into the cab.
Thank you for your helpful responses, now I have more food for thought as I research this particular problem. Have a good holiday!
Careful examination of the decoder and it’s manual via PDF form availible on the maker’s website shows that a 3/4 inch speaker is in the cab or a 1/2 inch is under the fan.
Is there any way to confirm this?
