Atlas RTS 10.0 software - download yields a "Potentially dangerous Download Detected!" message?

Hi everyone,

I just noticed that Atlas has released a new version of their track planning software, RTS 10.0 and an updated set of library files too. So, of course I chose to download it and see what it has to offer.

However, when I download the libraries and the main program installation file, I receive a warning window is generated by my Antivirus program (McAfee)

"Potentially Dangerous Download Detected!

McAfee has detected that your download contains viruses, spyware, and other potentially unwanted programs. These programs can damage your hard drive or steal your personal information."

Has anyone else experienced this? I look forward to reading your responses.

Jules

I would address the question to Atlas.

Jules,

That is just the usual warning if it is not a registered application. I would not worry about it. The BIG problem with RTS 10.0 is that existing RTS track plans that you touch with RTS 10.0 will not be usable on previous versions like RTS 8.0. So far I have not found a good import/export feature to do this. And, RTS 10.0 has a problem with removing track sections - If you tried to ‘tag’ a loose track section, the entire layout gets ‘tagged’! I sent an email to Atlas about a month ago, and got no response. I am back to RTS 8.0 for now.

Jim

Can someone show me where to get RTS 8.0?

Thanks

mj

Nevermind :), it’s right below it.

Jules –

I’m not sure Jim is correct on this one. If the warning says “potentially contains…”, then Jim is right and that is just McAfee’s overprotective nature.

On the other hand, if the word “potentially” isn’t in there, I would contact Atlas and let them know. If you have already downloaded the file, scan it with your anti-virus software.

I HAD downloaded version 10.0 and there was a track tagging issue. If you laid track, then tried to tag and remove it, it would tag the whole layout, even though the track you wanted to remove had been disconnected, so I went back to 8.0

I did not get this warning when I downloaded RTS 10.0.

BTW, you need to disconnect the piece of track before tagging it and removing it. If you don´t unlock it, you tag and remove all connected track.

Ulich,

That is the problem. I ‘remove’ a section of track(and there is another section now ‘free’) I ‘tag’ it and it tags the entire layout! Sometimes it works, sometimes not. RTS 8.0 never had this problem.

Jim

i cannot find rts 8 anywhere anysuggestions?

Jim,

I just tried it myself and had no issue disconnecting the track, tagging & removing it. However, should you have “grouped” some track elements, you need to “ungroup” them before the tagging.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t matter whether or not you ungroup it if you’re trying to edit a layout that was created in RTS 8.0.

Strange - it works with my plans, drawn in RTS 8.0 [?]
