atlas snap switches & toggle switches

Has anyonje tried using one of those toggle switches for Atlas Snap Switches?
And do the toggle switches have 4 connections for turnout use?

What toggle switches are you talking about? I use SPDT momentary (on)-off-(on) toggle switches for Atlas Snap Switches. You can’t use any type of toggle switch other than momentary or you will burn up the switch motor.

If you’re referring to that shoddy slide and push-button switch that comes with an Atlas Snap Switch, my advice is to throw those away and use something better. The Atlas switches have a bad habit of sticking and burning out motors.

I second everything cacole said. All in favor say “Arrrrrr.” (Just psyching up for Pirates of the Caribbean II.)

There are momentary toggle switches. Axman Surplus in Fridley and St. Paul sometimes have them for $.50. As the others said, just be sure they are momentary.

Straight toggle switches will work with Atlas turnout throws but the power supply must be momentary. I have mine wired with the source electricity run through a PBNO switch.
