I am thinking of buying a couple of Atlas’ trainman C&O style center cupola cabooses for my ho scale model railroad Leelanau County Railway, and i was curious is it easy to remove the windows from the caboose when painting an undecorated caboose?
Yes, it’s very easy to remove the windows. You just press them inward (gently) and slide them downward.
Reinstalling them is a matter of lining them up behind a pair of tabs, then sliding them up and snapping them into the window opening.
I’ve painted half a dozen so far, and the only problem I’ve had was misplacing some of the windows once I had them out.
Wonderful cabooses. Nicely detailed, and it’s hard to beat the price!
