Atlas TT and DCC

Greetings,

I have the Atlas ‘N’ turntable with motor. In reading the past posts about wiring the TT for DCC I am a bit confused.

Q- Do you run feed wires from the buss to the electrical posts instead of say from a DC power pack?

or

Q- Do you run wires from a DC power pack to the electrical posts on the TT and run DCC feeders to a different location?

Thanks,

The Atlas TT with motor has 4 connections; 2 for the track on the TT and 2 for the motor.

In terms of the track on the TT, the TT is auto-reversing as it is, so no further discretion is needed other than connecting the TT track leads to your bus (make sure that the ‘polarity’ is correct with the TT orientated with the approach track).

With the motor, you have 2 choices;

  1. Use a separate DC power pack to control the motor. This will be nothing more than the DC “out” on your power pack connected to the 2 motor leads.

  2. Use a motor decoder (such as a Digitrax DH123 or something similar) in between your Bus wires and the motor leads…in other words, the decoder sees the motor as a locomotive motor and controls it in the same way, through your throttle. Give the motor decoder an address and lock it (Cvs 15/16).

Thanks David!!

I take it that the 2 motor leads are on the side of the motor under the ‘house’? That makes it much simpler for my electrical challenged mind.

It would be nice if the Atlas folks would update their documentation.

The Atlas TT has been around for decades and is well documented in various Atlas planning books.
