ATSF Super Hoppers

Does anyone know any additional info on these so-called Super Hoppers?

Each of these covered hopper cars appear to be articulated. From what I know they were manufactured in the early 1990s by a company named Thrall. Are they still in service with BNSF? Apparently this type of hopper wasn’t a success, and the only new covered hoppers seen in BNSF service are the ubiquitous 3 bay Trinitys.

Yes, they are still in service. They seem to come out here fairly often.

Wasn’t that the only set Santa Fe had? At the time I thought this was a good idea.

They bought 3 or 4 sets (ATSF 390000-390002 or 390000-390003), if I remember correctly.
