I’d like to fit an old Mantua worm (3/32") onto a 2mm motor shaft (minebea SE15 motor). Is there a bushing or other tubing that would work for this? Would I press the bushing into the worm first using a vice, then push the motor shaft into that

North West Short Line should have a bushing/sleeve suitable for that.

NWSL sells these. Part number 10159-9.
I THINK the bushing is a loose fit on the shaft.
I would first check for loose vs. tight fit. Then press the tight fit together. Then glue on the loose fit. Be sure to de-grease. I would probably use epoxy, but nobody else does; they use superglue.

Hello All,
A-Line also offers Brass Sleeves - #12053.
Next in line on my R.I.P. track is a HO Bachmann GP38-2 repair using these sleeves and Female Worm Couplings - -#12033.
The motor shaft is 2mm and the couplings are 3/32-inch.

CA works for me. Using my vise, I give a light squeeze on the shaft to give it a bit of grip. Only if the sleeve is a bit loose of course…

If it’s that loose, perhaps you need a different supplier.

It does not take much to be loose… Even good quality motors, flywheels and sleeves can be loose when assembled.
