I have two HO CN switchers black and yellow color scheme…a tuscan red gp 9 block lettering CP…and am planning on buying a green and yellow CN rs-1 or 3 or something…another CP tuscan red gp 9…and a CN Fsomething in the green and yellow colour scheme. (all proto)
I only had freight on my old layout and am hoping to have some passenger cars on my new one. So are these some of the locos that would pull either the green and gold CN passenger cars or the tuscan red CP cars?
If so what loco’s would usually pull these passenger cars, who are the best manufacturers (within reasonable price) that make them…and what would be the minimum radii that these can run on…I currently have a 26 and 22" radii.
thanks for your help it would really help the aesthetics of my small layout
oh and what era would this be? I was thinking 50’s-70’s
Platypus, either the GP9 or the F something (try for an FP7 or FP9) would be appropriate for pulling cars in the colour schemes you describe. However, those colour schemes had pretty much disappeared by the 1970s–you may want to limit your era to the 50s-60s. I don’t know how long the green and gold lasted on CN, but the grey and black colours were introduced in the early 60s, well before CP’s “action red” in 1968.
I can’t help you with manufacturers as I’m in N scale myself.
Good luck
thank you for what you could help me with and I think you mis understood me Im not talking about the new cps “action red” im talking about the older burgundy (tuscan red)
I’m thinking 60’s. I remember Dad took me out to the Yard east of Toronto and remeber seeing Burgandy and that was late sixties.
I believe Action Red didn’t come into effect until73. And looking in pictures in Canadian Pacific in Colour, Volume 1 (American Pub as colour is spelled color).
Cp pulled passenger cars with FP7’s, FP9’s, FPA-2’s, RS 10’s, RS18’s, GP9’s, E8A’s and RDC-2’s.
Hopes this helps.
