Auction - HO Canadian Brass

Did anyone watch or participate in the auction today. It was put on by Wards Auction in Edmonton

Pictures?

At the site, pictures of all items and the amount they sold for. Note there is a 20% buyers fee besides the price paid.

Saw the auction notice, I also noticed it was from Edmonton but was also on icollector ( a very hihh-end auction house) Some prices varied enormously, CPR brass for same engines went 2 to 3 times the price of the first bids. Seems this guy who sold it a few too many hobbies, he must have owned a warehouse.

I love Canadian Brass! I already have one of the tuba player’s mouthpieces… [:o)]

I guess that was some sort of feeble attempt at humour?

Apparently more feeble than I’d thought

Sorry to hijack the thread

I thought is was hilarious, but then again I have a sense of humor.

LOL, that is funny.

I dunno, I got it. Guess because I am old and I know who the band is. Might even have one or two of their records. And I’m not even Canadian… [:P] Hey, at least it fits - they ARE a brass band after all…

Last I knew, maybe 30 years ago, they were almost all USA musicians.

Chuck Daellenbach, the tuba player and only one of the founder still with the group, is originally from Wisconsin but he moved to Toronto before starting the band. One of the othr founders is also US born but lives in Toronto, and the third founder with info available is a native Canadian. Of the current members, only Daellenbach is from Canada. Some of the other current members weren’t even born when the band first started.

Dunno if any of them are model railroaders though - but plenty of famous musicians have been.

Just in shock over how low some of the brass pieces went… I remember going to the LHS with my father in 1980s and seeing the same pieces commanding really high prices…
