Auction means new homes for Mid-Continent museum equipment
Good to see the decapod going to Age of Steam. Maybe some day it’ll see a fire in it’s box.
Mid Continent is an example of a museum that said yes to stuff they were not really equipped to regard and preserve as museum artifacts. Sad to lose those cranes – indeed it is even sad to lose an old AC&Y boxcar.
Always disappointing when “artifacts” go to scrap, but I applaud the Museum for making a decision to focus on its core collection and get some cash out of items they no longer wanted, don’t fit with their collection, that they don’t have the funds to restore and maintain, or whatever the case may be.
