AUGUST COFFEE POT 11 years old. Grits and sweet ice tea for the southern gents. Coffee and donuts for the Yankees.

Morning all. Crazy here. IL’s [all with mental problems] acting up. MIL trying to get in car and leave. FIL in bad shape. Wifey responding as only daughter here. She also has Niece’s two kids that she is keeping due to their Mom working at two hospitals. We were suppsoe to drive to VA. to visit other SIL’s boyfriend who had cancer operation. ENOUGH!!!

Remembering Chuck.

Hope all of you a great weekend [not a mess like mine].

Thanks Sir J, for covering my back. I squeezed in a new pot a few minutes before you did.

No problem Chief, we must have been posting at the same time. I ask Bob to delete mine.

S.J.

Good morning all,

This is my #2 son’s birthday. He is 50 now. No kid anymore. He returned home from my sisters funeral in Virginia yesterday after a trying return trip home. Plane leaving Norfolk was late due to mechanical problems. Every one on the plane missed their connection in Washington. He got on a standby to L.A. 4 hours later. Got home durning the rush hour and did not get home from the airport until 6:30 last night. Was suppose to home around 2:30 PM.

Last two days have been a challenge to me with wife having paranoia problems. Driving me batty. Glad son is home. Need some more people on duty here. My two son’s want to celebrate Richard’s birthday tonight. Just what I needed. I don’t have enough to do already. Anyway we will have to eat out. I’m too tired to do anything. They will have to do whatever happens.

later,

Ray

Good Afternoon Guys!

A busy day today. Left Mom’this morning after stopping at the bakery, then down to the Ice Cream Shop to help reload the freezers. Last night they were defrosted. Then came home, repaired the mower deck on the tractor, cut the grass, trimmed and sprayed the weeds, then cleaned the turtls pen. I thought I retired!

Chief: Prayers for SIL’s boyfriend.

SP Ray: First, Happy Birthday to your Son. Prayers for you and your wife. I know what you are going thru. I am taking care of Mom, who lives and hour away from me and she does not want to move. She has a few medical problems including COPD. Hang in there. It is easy to become overwhelmed. I know from firsthand. Thoughts and Prayers. Enjoy the birthday celebration.

Try to keep cool with this heatwave.

John

Good evening all,

We had a nice day in Ohio. Did some antique browsing in Waynesville, and went to a nice service in Seville. Supper was good at the facility where we ate, and played some games in a parlor where we are staying. Not a good day at the track for AJ’s team, but they could bounce back tomorrow. I hope everyone has a good day. Prayers for SP Ray and his family.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Ray: Been there. Take care.

Doug notta…yup, did see that, thanks!

This house thing…you’re not going to believe this…he just accepted my last offer…after refusing the first 3. I’m going to make him wait then going back to my original offer…he must think I’m a moron.

Up for a bit then back to sleep. Long ride on the Road Star yesterday to clear my head. Went and had BBQ at Local Smoke in Neptune City and wound up in Seaside Heights. Blew through Bayhead and thought of HudsonJohn and AFRay.

Roadrunner still out for front end issues, was told the new adjuster bolts were stripped? WTF? And I returned the tie rods…just want it done.

Lazy day today, just laundry and minor housekeeping. I may clean those Marx engines I just got and flip em for $15 e

Yesterday, I traveled down to Caldwell, the small county seat of Noble County, Ohio, to pay my respects to Paula, Chuck’s wife. I thought everyone should know that on the small memorial card distributed by the funeral home, the cover contained a picture of steam engine roaring down the tracks. I was introduced to several relatives as “one of Chuck’s train buddies”. I smiled. [:)]

RIP Chuck. [W] You were a great friend and confidant. [sigh] You will be missed.

Hello there,

7 am mass then breakfast. Now relaxing while pork chops marinate. Grilling them and corn on the cob for lunch .

Buckeye. …please pm Chuck’s address. I’d like to send my regards to his family .

Littlest grand baby now 1. Big party last night A little more yard work and a party at one of mrs coworkers later.

Now for a nap

Prayers for those in need

Good job Buckeye. RT had called about flowers. I suggested we all send cards. Flowers don’t last. Cards can be held in rememberance and a nice “stack” would show our love for a long time.

Hot and less humid. Did my pond and path maintenance yesterday. Got that done for the summer [I hope].

May be going to VA. today. MIL is finally gone of deep end. Thinks she is at SIL’s ex’s house. She went back with SIL yesterday. We are going to go get her. Girls have finally decided in-laws are going to have to have daily supervision.

Prayers for all those who need them and especially John’s Mom. Same for Rich’s house sell.

Hope everyone has a great week ahead.

Chief, I can relate to your IL problem. Prayers for all of you.

Just got a call yesterday from a friend who says one wife of our church social group has taken a bad turn with some kind of dementia and the husband has no idea what to do. I told my friend to tell him to call me. At least I can point him to the right places to start. I feel for all going through this.

Hudson John, thanks for the words of encouragement.

The birthday dinner for my son went off OK last night with cake and ice cream after dinner out. Only downer was the A/C was bad order at the restaurant.

Got to get ready for church.

Ray

Good evening all,

An absolutely great day!!! Got Pippa’s and Sato’s autograph. Got to smooze with several of the teams and a member of the broadcast team. Weather was great. Traffic not bad either before or after race. Rahal, an American driver, won and pulled to within 9 of points lead. AJ’s team did not have the best day, but Hawkesworth salvaged a 9th. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mornin’ boys. Sunny and 67 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Today begins the 2 week long Fifepops Camp (I have my whistle) with grandson. First thing off I will impress him with my recent acquisitions from the Greenberg’s Show: 6032 Postwar Lionel Gondola, 9305 Santa Fe outlaw car, 9855 Swift reefer, 52051 TCA B&O Sentinel Service boxcar, and the peas-duh-ree-siz-tonce (huh-huh-huh’) the 36729 Lionel animated caboose! Now that I have one, I’ll tell you it is the coolest piece of rolling stock I have. The conductor holds a red lantern on the back platform, and as the train rolls around he moves out to starboard and the lantern glows (I mean realy glows red). Happy… Along with the 6465 Gulf black tankcar the oldest princess “won” me for $9.95, I have a super set of O-27 to go with my beloved 2026. I have named my set The Mid-Atlantic Merchandiser.

Then it will be story time, and I will narate my trip to Rockville Bridge I took with “Uncle” Tom yesterday. Best day of train watching we ever had there. Didn’t see any Heritage units, but NS didn’t dissapoint. Even saw some UP, CP and a BC unit. Weather was spectacular. Need to take the boy up to Fort Hunter soon. Then we stopped off at New Freedom in time to catch my favorite steam Engine, YORK 17, leaving with the Hanover Junction train. Got my 30% off long sleeve YORK 17 t-shirt for wearing to YORK (conceal your jealousy please).

Don’t know how I’ll get him down for nap after all that excitement.

Aloha. I had a relaxing, hot weekend. Big storms overnight cooled everything off today. I’m sure the ‘hail damage experts’ will be canvassing our neighborhoods today. I went outside to scoop up a few of the giant (silver dollar-size) pieces to put in the freezer to show the youngest when he woke up today.
Chief, that is a good idea about the cards.
Thanks for ‘representing’ us, Buckeye.
MikeC, that was a great race. Sounds like you had a good time. I watched a lot of racing over the weekend, F1, Indy, NASCAR trucks and big boys, and even a sports concourse at Lime Rock in Connecticut that I used to visit when I was little.
SJ, hope you dodged the storms.
Fife, good luck at ‘camp.’ You would be proud of me. I’m going to take sailing lessons next week on a little boat in our town’s name-sake lake. Something I’ve always wanted to do… [:)]

Nope Doug the storms got us too. They stretched all the way across Michigan and into Canada. No damage here except some flooded streets. Not much sleep though, a very noisy night…S.J.

cnw1995 - That’s the style, Doug! [oX)] Just try to keep that tall stick-thingie out of the water…you’ll do fine.

Banks - Just talked to neighber. Troy built PONY, 5hp, rebuilt carborator this season. Asking 300 OBO. It was too big for his needs.

rt - Tellyawhatimagonnado…send me all your postwar items for “safe keeping”. We wouldn’t want them lost in the move. Then when you’re all settled in, I’ll get them to you…ala The Carolina Crippler

It really is all about helping others…

Good morning all,

Had a scary moment yesterday. Wife wondered off when I fell asleep in my chair. Turned up at neighbor across the street who is a policeman. He brought her home. She told him there was a strange man sleeping in her house. That was me. Still learning how to cope with all this stuff. Luckily I have a support group to get information and help.

Hoping for a better day today. We have an appointment with the foot doctor this morning but that’s all so far.

Ray

Humm, Now no page numbers at all on this site’s Junk software.

All the storms went north and east. Could of used some rain to water the new grass seed I put down yesterday in the blazeing heat but I will pass on the hail.

Doug, don’t forget to wear you lifejacket. [:P]

Fife should of said something sooner there already all packed and theres a couple of sets you would of loved to safe keep for me 2265W and 2572 also I’m sure you would take real good care of them for me but your getting ready to move also I believe very soon I can send you my address and Ill keep all yours for you safe untill you get settled in then send them back to you on the S.C.R.R.
