Does anyone out there know of some Austrailan based sites showing NSW RR,
NRail & other Aus trains?
I am looking for info on what (NR75) as a single unit, and waht it has been employed for?[:o)]

A few years ago I got on the Hammersly Iron RR page and I’m thinking there were links to other sites.
If not, put Australian Railroads into your search engine and go on a magical mystery trip! Be sure to check out the Tasmanian RR ruins, I seem to remember they had some unique pics.

Use model railway as your key words limit your search to Australia and use google as your search engine there are far too many links to list.

In today’s Washington Post, there’s a huge article about Chinese ships being jammed up in Australia’s harbors and railroads clogged with raw materials needed by that fastest growing country in the world.
Austrailia rail certainly appears to have a bright future; esp now that its second transcon has been completed; maybe next a northern transcon route?

I’m not sure what your question is about NR75. It was the first unit repainted red for the Darwin “Ghan” service, and was named “Steve Irwin” to match with early advertising for the Darwin service. For various reasons, this advertising was dropped, and the locomotives actually used, NR74 and NR109 were not named after Steve Irwin, although otherwise in similar red to NR75. NR75 hit a grain truck and was unavailable for the initial services, but it is expected to be repainted red and used in the Darwin passenger service with NR74 and NR109 (while being used in freight traffic at other times).
