Australian tunnels to expand for rail freight
Yes there is an election comming up in two weeks time in Australia and we have now hit the stage where politicans are making exhorbatent promises. Also in the news the current prime minister has promised to set aside a few dollars to start procuring the land for a high speed rail link between Sydney and Melbourne. At every AusRail convention someone will get up and talk about how with it being the 4th busiest air route in the world Australia needs a high speed rail link between Sydney and Melbourne and that it is at the limit of how far a high speed rail journey can be before flying becomes a faster way to travel. Of course the fact that at $20 billion, it would cost every Australian $1,000 each and be very unlikley to make a commerical rate of return on investment is never addressed.
“Of course the fact that at $20 billion, it would cost every Australian $1,000 each…” Is that U.S. or Australian dollars?
Both Patrick, one Aussie dollar is worth about one US dollar. Well the Aussie dollar is buying about 90 US cents right now but for the last few years has been buying around 105 US cents.
