Authoritative Guide to Lionel`s Promotional Outfits, 1960-1969

Have not posted in a while, so this is no doubt old new. I ordered a copy of Authoritative Guide to Lionel`s Promotional Outfits, 1960-1969 from Overstock.com for a wopping $45.95. I’m really looking forward to getting it since I collect Postwar O-27 from that era.

Speaking of Lionel collector books, what is the latest on the snit over the Doyle books?

My copy of The Authoritative Guide to Lionel’s Promotional Outfits, 1960-1969 arrived in yesterdays mail! After spending a couple hours looking through it I highly recommend it for anybody interested in Lionel from the 1960’s. Looking at Lionel consumer catalogs from this period would lead you to believe nothing was going on at Lionel. After reading from this book you can see was very busy.

MojavenSF,

Thanks for the kind words and glad you are enjoying. Yes Lionel was really busy during the '60s.

One interesting note is that Lionel made only 140 or so catalog outfits in the '60s, but made over 700 promotional outfits during the same period. Also, Lionel made a little less than 500 outfits during the ENTIRE postwar period. Pretty interesting stuff.

FYI…we have a new book coming shortly titled “Inside the Lionel Trains Fun Factory - The History of a Manufactuing Icon and The Place Where Childhood Dreams Were Made.” We presold it at York and will have info about it on my website shortly.
