Where can I get some HO autos from the late 20’s thru early 40’s? All I seem to find are 2 or 3 different autos and that would get boring really fast if that’s all there is. Thanks for any help.
There are limited automobiles available for any time frame.
It has been the bane of most MRRers…is to find autos appropriate to their time period that are more than just the limited 3-5 models, or models that are less than10 years older or newer than their time frame.
True. However, you can stretch the available models by repainting them, or using some that look close and kitbashing them a little.
Sylvan Scale Models makes several (resin) kits of cars and trucks for the 1930s and 1940s.
Williams Brothers has some nice (plastic) kits of 1920s, 30s, and 40s vehicles.
Wiseman Model Services offers many (white metal) kits for trucks of the 1920s through the 40s.
Jordan Products produces a bunch of (plastic) kits for wagons, trucks, and cars from that era.
Note that these are all kits (of various materials, and difficulty), so they will need to be painted and assembled.
Finding “ready-to-run” vehicles for the 1920s-40s is a bit tough, though there are a few examples.
Classic Metal Works has some (like a 36 Ford, and will be releasing a 1941 Chevy truck in various forms in the near future).
Busch has a few vehicles to fit your era, such as a Ford Model AA van, and a Dodge Power Wagon pick up.
Athearn has several versions of Ford Model A cars and trucks.

Thanks for the leads on Williams Brothers and Wiseman. I had never seen them before. I will have to practise my brush painting skills!

I really enjoy the Jordan Highway Miniatures kits. Here are a few that I’ve assembled:

These include an Essex, Ford Victoria, Ford Model A pickup, a Ford Woody, and a Ford stake truck.

This is one of their delivery trucks (above) and a Mack dump truck below:

I have a very high opinion of these kits, but they are not simple to build. Each one takes about 8 hours for me, but I love the detain and the fine quality of the molded parts.
I’m also a fan of Jordan kits.
They’ve got a wide assortment of vehicles. I’m particularly fond of the trucks.
The earlier comment about creating “different” vehicles just by painting is a good one. This is the same Jordan kit as Phil’s yellow truck above. I used a few of Preiser’s unpainted “Truckers” figures for my drivers in all of these pictures.
TRy this Website: http://stores.ebay.com:80/THE-RAIL-CONNECTION__W0QQ_fsubZ586371010. These autos are very similar to the Greg’s Garage vehicles. The fellow who runs it is very helpful. Bill
Forgot to mention that the prices are very reasonable. Bill
Hopefully the link should link now.
