Availability of Basic Train Engineer

Sorry if this has been covered before, but I was looking around at difference sources for a Crest Basic Train Engineer and everyone seems to be out of stock. A few places said they are expected in June of this year. Is this item being re-done, re-made, re-released?

Jim,

According to the monthly email I get from Aristocraft. The Basic Train Engineer is scheduled to arrive in the state on June 15th. So it looks like what you’ve been told is good. I can’t really state for a fact how and when Aristocraft does thier orders. To me it’s just taken awhile for them to be able to get more in stock and that’s what’s showing up in June.

Jack

Thanks Jack, appreciate it. I know I’m in the wrong forum but I plan to use the BTE on my n scale layout since it worked so well in the past, and am glad to see that they will be coming back in stock again.

I can see where it sould be a good control system for something like that.

Jack

Please bear in mind that the BTE has a max output of 2.5 amps. That makes it unsuitable for many larger locos, or many locos with 2 or more motors.

Many people have used the Trackside Train Engineer, and cut away the case to make it fit in locos, they have a 10 amp capacity.

Understand Greg, and the BTE is more than sufficient for my indoor n scale layout where I plan on using it.

Whoops… missed the point that it was you about using it on N scale… yeah, 2.5 amps will be fine of course…

Regards, Greg

The BTE appear to be back in stock as mine arrived yesterday from an Internet supplier. My little n scale trains are quite happy with it…

This is probably a dumb question, but could I use this BTE with my Lionel and MTH O scale trains. I could use some kind of remote control, if I put it overhead. I use the TE with my G scale trains and understand it pretty well, but am not sure if it would work with O scale.

Thanks

Paul

Paul, I’m not sure, but i suspect you may have an ac/dc problem! I’d ask our resident electrical expert Greg in a private e-mail! I’m sure he’d know.
