Today I saw a garden railway (G Scale) in the front yard of someone’s home. It was awesome. The whole front yard was filled with track and scenery. I don’t know if this is just for Christmas or if it is permanent. He had many scale buildings in the front yard covered with Plexiglass on all 4 sides so that you could see and enjoy them but they would not be exposed to the weather. The trains ran all over the front yard and into his basement via the windows on the side of the house. Apparently he kept the trains in the basement and apprently runs them out the window when he is ready to run trains. He had built up earth mounds in the front yard so that the trains could run through tunnels. The mounds were covered by grass and small ground cover bushes. He had tunnel portals made of creekstone. Very good looking portals!! What a great idea for Christmas and beyond. It was definitely a motivator to have dual layouts…one inside and one outside!!!
This sounds to me like a real eye pleasing layout. Did you get to see trains running or just the tracks?

Now THAT’S cool. Where’s this at? I’m sure if there are other people that are semi-local to this layout, they’d love to see it. You don’t have to give a specific address, but at least town and state would be nice.
Thanks
Wow, can you take and post some pics?
I’d love to see that!
It is in Louisville, Kentucky. I would take pics but I don’t have a digital camera. I only saw the tracks and scenery, it was raining when I stopped by so they did not have them running. I will stop by again some time and see what type of equipment he has running!!
